A huge explosion believed to have stemmed from a car bomb has rocked the headquarters for security in a southern Sinai suburb, killing at least three and injuring nearly 50, Egyptian authorities said on Monday.
The attack came just a few hours after six Egyptian soldiers were killed at a site by the Suez Canal, by a gunman, The Times of Israel reported. Investigators are still trying to determine if the two incidents were related.
But also on Monday: A pair of rocket-propelled grenades smashed into Egypt’s main satellite earth station, located in the southern section of Cairo. Damage was significant and resulted in several spot fires around the area.
Emergency responders guessed the death toll from the suspected car bomb would rise. Many victims appeared trapped under the debris, The Times of Israel reported.
