MIAMI (AP) - The jury mulling the fate of a Florida man accused of killing Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor asked a question in its second day of deliberations.
Jurors wanted to know Thursday how to define when Eric Rivera Jr. would be considered a principal actor in the overall crime. If Rivera is considered a principal, he can be convicted whether or not jurors find he fired the fatal shot.
The 23-year-old Rivera could face life in prison if convicted of Taylor’s November 2007 slaying. Testimony showed Taylor was shot during a failed burglary at his Miami-area home by a group of young men from Fort Myers.
Rivera confessed but testified his statement was coerced and that he didn’t kill Taylor.
Taylor was a Pro Bowl safety and University of Miami star.
