In an effort to curb cavities and support the troops, a dentist’s office near Philadelphia will hold a buyback for Halloween candy.
Robert Riesenberger’s pediatric dentist’s office in Doylestown will hold the candy buyback on Nov. 9. Children can receive $1 for each pound of candy they bring in, and the collected candy will be sent to U.S. military personnel overseas, The Intelligencer reported.
Dental assistant Jennifer McClain said the buyback has gone on at the office for the past three years and between 300 to 500 pounds of candy has been collected each time, the Associated Press reported.
She said the office donates the candy to Food4Troops, a nonprofit which sends care packages to troops serving overseas.
