Israel has conducted two airstrikes on Syrian military bases, one near the port city of Latakia and the other near the capital, Damascus.
The strikes were carried out Wednesday and targeted missiles headed to the Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, CBS News reported.
Iran has been a key supporter of President Bashar Assad, whose regime has had strongholds in Latakia and Damascus during the 2½-year civil war.
Israel has been suspected of at least five strikes on targets within Syria this year. The first took place in January and hit missile shipments that allegedly were bound for Hezbollah.
