Donald Trump said in a radio interview on Thursday he feels “strongly” that Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio will make an effective mayor of New York City, despite his plans to hike taxes on the rich.

“I think he’s a smart guy that knows what’s going on is really big league and I think he is not going to want to destroy New York,” the real estate mogul said, according to the New York Daily News.

“I think he is going to want to make New York great,” he continued. “I think pretty strongly that he’ll end up being a good mayor, maybe a very good mayor and I don’t think he’s going to want to kill the golden goose.”

Mr. Trump also revealed that while he’s not interested in running for governor next year, he still might run for president in 2016 if the “right person” does not emerge, the Daily News reported.
