Las Vegas makes bid for 2016 Republican convention

It may seem far in the future, but Nevada authorities already have put in their bid to bring the 2016 Republican National Convention to Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas 2016 group kicked off a campaign this week, launching a website and companion social media presence to highlight the city’s “world-class” accommodations and touting it as the ideal destination of choice for the Republican Party’s 2016 gala, Politico reported.

The message was simple: “This is what we do,” the website said.

The Nevada Host Committee, chaired by Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, is heading up the effort.

Christian Coalition’s Jack St. Martin, also part of the Nevada Host Committee, said in Politico that “Las Vegas makes perfect sense for the GOP convention. Las Vegas knows how to host something of this magnitude and Nevada’s diverse demographics make total sense for the GOP to come here.”
