Russia on Thursday responded to a mob attack on its embassy in Libya by ordering all its diplomats to take their families and leave.
They’re reportedly safe in Tunisia now, a high-ranking Russian authority said, in The Associated Press.
None of the staff was injured in Wednesday’s attack. But Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said they weren’t taking any chances. Officials decided to issue the evacuation order after Libya’s foreign minister couldn’t provide Moscow with a guarantee that thire facility could be protected from further attack.
The attack a day ago was a response to the killing of a Libyan air force officer, allegedly by a Russian woman, AP reported.
