As the piece by Mary Claire Kendall (“Ken Cuccinelli, the Virginian,” Commentary Oct. 22) posited, Ken Cuccinelli is truly the candidate for Virginia governor, while Terry McAuliffe is a carpetbagger brought into the state for political reasons.

Mr. McAuliffe has been financed in this election by outside money, namely that of Hillary Clinton and her Hollywood friends. This crowd paid $25,000 per couple to attend a lunch for Mr. McAuliffe. Let us not forget the outrageous intrusion of billionaire New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who undertook yet another effort to buy an election outside his state, contributing $1 million to defeat the Republican ticket in Virginia’s gubernatorial race.

Mr. McAuliffe’s election would mean the end of right-to-work laws in the state, driving business elsewhere. His policies would mean higher taxes and would destroy coal mining in the state. Further, Mr. McAuliffe would do his best to confiscate our guns. He has opposed legislation to sanitize abortion clinics and has even sued to prevent a purge of ineligible voters from the rolls. It is clear that this is a deliberate attempt on the part of the Democratic Party to turn Virginia into a blue state for the 2014 and 2016 elections. This is political corruption at its worst. May Virginia teach these outsiders a lesson, as the Colorado voters taught Mr. Bloomberg a lesson recently. I urge Virginia voters to vote for Mr. Cuccinelli for governor, E.W. Jackson for lieutenant governor and Mark Obenshain for attorney general.
