Much of the political world may be standing against Sen. Ted Cruz, but he’s got at least one staunch supporter in his camp: His daughter, 5, who already plans on following in his footsteps.
The Texas Republican recounted this week a conversation he overheard between his two daughters: “We’re driving … and Caroline, the 5-year-old, turns to her little sister, age 2. She says, ’Catherine, what do you want to do when you grow up?’ “
And Mr. Cruz recounted the reply, The Hill reported: “[She said] ’I want to work in the U.S. Senate. I want to work with daddy.’ “
The elder then replied, Mr. Cruz said: That’s “boring,” a rock band would be far more interesting, The Hill reported.
“And then Caroline throws in the zinger,” Mr. Cruz, 42, said to his crowd of listeners at this week’s J.W. Marriott event in downtown Washington, D.C., The Hill reported. The 5-year-old then told the 2-year-old: “Besides, daddy will be dead by then.”
