Palestinian security officers said on Friday they uncovered a plot from a terrorist cell in the West Bank to fire off bomb-carrying drones at sites in Israel.
The terror ring, tied to Hamas, was in the advanced stages of plotting the attack, Palestinian security officials said to The Times of Israel. Investigators said the Hamas members had already conducted several test flights of the drone, and their next move was to attach explosives and launch them at Israeli targets.
Several suspects were arrested, The Times of Israel reported.
Israeli’s defense confirmed the Palestinian security team’s story and said this isn’t the first time the force had helped root out terrorist plots from groups operating in the West Bank.
