Florida police said Wednesday that George Zimmerman won’t be brought up on criminal charges after all, stemming from a public row he had with his wife in the wake of her filing for divorce.
The dispute didn’t reach the level of criminal, in so far as what could be proven, Lake Mary officer Zach Hudson said, The Daily Mail reported.
The couple on Sept. 9 argued at the home where they lived before Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce. Mrs. Zimmerman’s parents own the home and they also say Mr. Zimmerman stole valuable property from the residence, before he left. Mrs. Zimmerman’s mother said Mr. Zimmerman took a $2,800 flat-screen television set, and $3,000 worth of furniture. Detectives looked into the charges, but didn’t find anything, The Daily Mail reported.
But the fight that ensued between Mr. Zimmerman and his wife was a dramatic scene captured on video.
Police swarmed and ordered him to the ground. They then took him into custody, after Mrs. Zimmerman claimed he had become violent, threatening them with a gun and smashing an iPad. She later changed her story and said some of her initial allegations didn’t occur.
