The executive producer of NBC’s “The Voice” said Monday that CeeLo Green’s gig as a judge is safe despite a looming felony drug charge.
TMZ reported that the Los Angeles County district attorney will clear the performer of charges he sexually assaulted a woman by allegedly slipping a drug in her drink but that he will be charged with the felony of furnishing ecstasy.
Regardless, his judge’s chair is safe at “The Voice.”
“CeeLo will not be fired,” Mark Burnett, the show’s executive producer, told TMZ.
A woman has claimed she and Mr. Green went to a sushi restaurant in downtown Los Angeles a year ago. She says he slipped ecstasy in her drink and she woke up in his bed.
Mr. Green allegedly admitted to taking ecstasy, but he denied allegations of sexual assault and encouraged the district attorney and the Los Angeles Police Department to investigate fully, TMZ said. Prosecutors rejected the sexual assault case because of insufficient evidence.
TMZ reported that NBC learned of the pending drug charge against Mr. Green through the gossip website.
