Jacksonville International Airport in Florida was back in full swing on Wednesday, after police found two suspicious packages, evacuated the airport and called in the bomb squad to deactivate what they described as a “destructive” device.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Shannon Hartley said one of the packages “had some destructive nature that … had to be taken offsite,” but she did not go into detail, CBS reported.
The port was evacuated for roughly five hours, and nobody was injured. Police still haven’t confirmed earlier reports of two suspects being taken into custody.
Airlines were scrambling on Wednesday to get a hold of delayed flight schedules and reroute passengers to their destinations.
“The airlines will work to ensure all passengers will receive their luggage,” Jacksonville International Airport officials tweeted on the port’s official Twitter site.
