The USS San Antonio saved 128 men who were adrift on a raft in the Mediterranean Sea after Maltese pilots patrolling the area called in the crisis.
The men were migrants, Reuters reported, and were rocked by high winds and massive waves while making their sea journey. The U.S. Navy responded and saved all aboard.
After their rescue, they were provided food, water and medical aid and then transferred to vessels from the Maltese government, authorities said.
This is only the latest in a series of ocean incidents that have left migrants adrift.
Others stranded at sea haven’t been so lucky, however. More than 550 migrants were believed to have drowned in separate incidents earlier this month when the craft in which they were sailing sank in waters between Libya and Lampedusa, an island off Italy’s southern coast.
