Not all the fallout from the government shutdown is negative, harmful or destructive, Republicans in the Senate said on Tuesday. In fact, some outcomes — 10 of them, to be exact — are downright positive.
No. 1: The secret email name adopted by Environmental Protection Agency head Lisa P. Jackson to keep her memos private from Freedom of Information Act prying eyes has been placed on permanent furlough, The Hill reported. No more Richard Windsor.
“[He’s] been furloughed — for good,” staffers with Sen. David Vitter’s office wrote, The Hill reported.
Moreover, the shutdown means the EPA scientists and researchers won’t be so busy with “[making] up science on new regulations,” GOP members listed.
The EPA has put about 94 percent of its workers on furlough, The Hill said.
Also on the list, posted on the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works blog: The EPA “doesn’t have the manpower to raid Alaska mines with armed guards.” And the president “has a temporary excuse for his stonewalling on FOIA and other transparency demands of the administration,” the blog stated.
