Armed law enforcement officers stormed three separate sites in downtown London late Sunday and took into custody four men on terrorism-related charges.
The raids went forth at addresses on Mansell Street in east London, in Westbourne Grove in the Notting Hill region and in Peckham, in the southeast area of the city, NBC reported. The men’s identities weren’t released but two were age 25, and the other two, 28- and 29-years-old.
Police said they’re being detained on charges related to conducting a “pre-planned intelligence-led operation,” NBC said.
Law enforcement is hailing the investigation and arrest as a major “disruption” of a terror cell. The terror group is believed to be “lower level” than other cells similarly disrupted, but still of significant threat.
Police wouldn’t give further details about their alleged crimes. But they did detail the men are being detained on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
