Former Rep. Anthony Weiner and failed New York City mayoral candidate weighed in on the government shutdown on Wednesday, calling on his former congressional colleagues to quit the politics and start acting like leaders.
On a semi-confrontational interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Mr. Weiner said legislators were “playing a game of standoff with the economy” over the debt limit for personal political gain.
The disgraced congressman wouldn’t talk about his own personal political problems, however — his long-running sexting scandal leading to his failed bid for mayor, Fox News reported. Instead, he turned the discussion to his stated focus on the middle-class: He said he wanted to talk about the challenges of those with less means.
Mr. Weiner also declined to name his next career move, saying he was unsure.
