MSNBC host Chris Matthews ought to watch out — he might start earning the reputation as a convert to Republicanism.
On Monday evening, he completely excoriated a Democratic Party strategist who appeared as a guest on his television show to discuss the political impact of a couple of governors’ races, one in Virginia and the other in New Jersey.
Guy Cecil, the executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee refused to admit that a Chris Christie win in New Jersey would have any impact at all on the fate of the Republican Party, insofar as indicating a national turn to the right and embrace of establishment GOP principles — and that sent Mr. Matthews into ballistic mode, The Blaze reported.
“I don’t want a Democratic flack who can’t think beyond his job description,” Mr. Matthews said, also accusing Mr. Cecil of “wasting” viewers’ time with his “flackery,” and that he had “no value to this show,” The Blaze reported.
Mr. Cecil was trying to argue that a GOP win in New Jersey wouldn’t translate into a national referendum for Republicanism because other congressional and gubernatorial races around the country involve tea party candidates. But Mr. Matthews found that argument lacking in logic and heavy on talking points.
“You have no value to this show if you are going to talk like that,” he said, to Mr. Cecil, before moving on to another guest, The Blaze reported. “That’s insane talk. You’re wasting my time with flackery. I don’t want a Democratic flack who can’t think beyond his job description.”
This is the second time in just a few days that Mr. Matthews has seemed to take a stand for Republican Party politics.
Last week, he ranted about the failure of the White House to address key issues related to the killing of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012, and vowed to keep pushing for answers.
