Talk about making an entrance. The tea party’s favorite media figure, Glenn Beck, made an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” this week to promote his new book, “Miracles and Massacres,” with a shock-factor of a prop: One of the guns taken from Sitting Eagle at Wounded Knee.

“This is an original,” Mr. Beck said, holding up the rifle, during his satellite appearance, Politico reported. “This is one of only seven guns that was taken, this was taken from Sitting during the Wounded Knee battle.”

Mr. Beck said the battle itself is one of history’s “buried” stories.

“When you really see what happened there and — this was buried. This was absolutely buried and our own military, they lied in court,” Mr. Beck said, Politico reported. “Then we tried to cover it up by giving everybody medals there. It really needs to be exposed so we can say, look these things were bad, now let’s learn from them.”

Mr. O’Reilly praised Mr. Beck’s research — and likened it to some of his own, in his book “Killing Lincoln,” Politico reported.

“So Beck is now the watchdog of history,” Mr. O’Reilly said, in the report. “We’re rolling, Beck.”
