A passenger train that left New Orleans early Monday morning for New York jumped the tracks in a rural region outside Spartanburg, S.C., delaying travel for an estimated 200 riders.
Nobody was seriously injured, CNN reported. But WSPA-TV reported that several were taken to the hospital for checks.
Seven of the Amtrak Crescent’s nine cars derailed, but all stayed upright.
Buses were sent to the scene to move passengers to their next destinations, Amtrak authorities said. The train carried 207 passengers and 11 crew members, CNN said.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
