More Americans disapprove of how President Obama is handling his job and his signature health care law than ever before as the fallout from issues with the law persist, a new Washington Post-ABC poll stated.
Forty-two percent approve of his overall job performance compared to 55 percent who disapprove, and he is heavily underwater on the handling of the implementation of Obamacare; just 33 percent approve and 63 percent disapprove.
The 55 percent disapproval number is the highest of his presidency in the poll, and the 57 percent who disapprove of the health care law is also a new high. Forty-four percent say they strongly disapprove of how Mr. Obama his handling his job — also a new high.
More than seven in 10 voters believe the government should delay the so-called “individual mandate” portion of the law that requires individuals to purchase health insurance or pay a fine.
The public is split on whether the government can recover from the botched rollout. Forty-nine percent say it can get the law working successfully, and 49 percent say the problems are an indication that the law is unworkable.
Thirty-one percent of those polled are Democrats, 24 percent say they are Republicans, and 37 percent say they’re independents.

The survey of 1,006 adults was conducted Nov. 14-17 and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
