2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney described his run last year as a “fabulous” experience, but asked whether he might do it again, his wife Ann took matters into her own hands.
“It was a fabulous experience, I loved it,” Mr. Romney said Friday on “CBS This Morning” when asked about another possible run.
Mrs. Romney was having none of it — and let the TV audience know her displeasure in dramatic fashion.
She grabbed his head and gently shook it no.
“We’re not doing that again,” he agreed.
Still, he extolled the merits of a Romney candidacy — past and future.
“This, for me, was not about, ’Hey, I want to be president, and have the Secret Service around, and live in that big White House.’ This, for me, was about making sure that we can get the country on the right track and the question I had is, ’Am I the person most likely and most effective to get the country back on track?’”
Mr. Romney said he was “very upset” that elements of the vetting process for his vice presidential nominee was leaked; information about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ended up in the new book “Double Down” by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.
“An individual released confidential information - it embarrassed my campaign, embarrassed me,” Mr. Romney said. “I told [Christie] I’m very sorry - this is not something he expected. When you provide confidential information to a presidential candidate or nominee, you expect him to be able to keep it private.”
