Reality star Willie Robertson, of the A&E show “Duck Dynasty,” is starring in a new political ad for his “good buddy” Vance McAllister for Louisiana’s 5th District special election.

“Hey this is Willie Robertson, reminding you to get out Saturday, Nov. 16 and vote for my good buddy Vance McAllister. Let’s send somebody from the 5th District who speaks for us to help turn Washington around,” Mr. Robertson says in the ad, Roll Call first reported.

The Robertson family are residents of the 5th District, and they have appeared at multiple events for Mr. McAllister throughout the race. The Republican and his team hope the endorsement could court enough blue-collar workers be the final push his campaign needs.

However, Mr. McAllister only gained 18 percent of the vote in the Oct. 16 open primary, compared to GOP state Sen. Neil Riser’s 32 percent, making his victory unlikely, Roll Call said.

Both are competing for former Rep. Rodney Alexander’s seat, who resigned this summer to join Gov. Bobby Jindal’s administration and also endorsed Mr. Riser to take his place.

Mr. Riser has won endorsements from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and much of the state’s GOP congressional delegation, as well as FreedomWorks and the Tea Party of Louisiana, Politico reported.
