Royal Canadian Mounted Police kicked off an investigation into a stash of pumpkins stuffed with pounds of cocaine that were discovered at the border.
The pumpkins were found inside luggage belonging to an unnamed woman at the Trudeau International Airport in Montreal late Thursday, The Associated Press said. Authorities said they found precisely 4.4 pounds of the powder.
They discovered the drug after scanning the luggage. Scanners were suspicious at what they saw as some kind of mass of substance inside the pumpkins and opened them to investigate, AP said.
A border agency spokeswoman declined to give details about the passenger and could not say if she was a Canadian citizen.
