The body of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been buried at an undisclosed location outside Worcester, Mass., a Boston newspaper reported Thursday.
“As a result of our public appeal for help, a courageous and compassionate individual came forward to provide the assistance needed to properly bury the deceased,” a Worcester police officer said, according to the Boston Globe.
“His body is no longer in the city of Worcester and is now entombed,” the officer said.
The burial ends the growing dispute in the Cambridge area since the April 15 bombings over Tsernaev’s remains. Nobody wanted the 26-year-old buried in their community, and most funeral parlors were hesitant to ignore the public outrage.
One funeral home owner did buck the tide of anger, however. Peter Stefan, owner of Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, promised in recent days to find a burial site for Tsarnaev, over the objections of protesters outside his business, the Globe reported.
