Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew is undergoing penmanship training to correct his loopy signature — the one that more resembles a pre-kindergarten creation than adult script. And just in time.
He’s about to affix his signature — in perpetuity — to the nation’s currency, The Associated Press reported.
Mr. Lew’s loops are now near legendary. His signature as chief of staff and as former director of the Office of Management and Budget was a series of circles. But apparently, that won’t play well on the dollar bill.
“Jack assured me that he is going to work to make at least one letter legible in order not to debase our currency,” President Obama said, during his announced nomination of Mr. Lew to the Treasury post.
And after two months of trying, Mr. Lew’s penmanship has already improved, AP reported. His signature on the recently released Financial Stability Council included actual letters. His last name could really be read, AP said.
