Pakistan, amid widespread electrical outages and natural gas shortages, has taken a drastic step and banned the use of air conditioners in government offices.
Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso said the ban will take effect on May 15, the Associated Press reported. It will stay in effect until Pakistan’s energy situation gets better.
It comes at a time the nation is heading toward triple-digit temperatures. The summer average in Pakistan hits about 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mr. Khoso issued a recommendation that summer dress should include light-colored clothing that drapes, rather than hugs, the body, AP reported.
