Today is the day that threats from the hacking group Anonymous to devastate America’s federal agencies and banking systems are supposed to come true.

The group has been vowing for weeks that members “will make sure that this May 7th will be a day to remember,” Anonymous said in a post reported by the Huffington Post. It says the attacks are revenge for America’s “war crimes” in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, Newser reported.

Government response to the threats has been tepid.

Newser said officials are expecting “limited disruptions” and only “nuisance-level attacks against publicly accessible webpages.”

BuzzFeed said the hackers hail from the Middle East and North Africa.

Their targets, Newser said: the FBI, Chase bank, the Pentagon, the White House and the FBI.
