Four Colorado Democratic lawmakers who have pushed tough gun control measures are now facing concerted recall efforts.
Targeted are Democratic Sens. John Morse, Evie Hudak and Angela Giron, and Rep. Mike McLachlan, The Daily Caller reported.
Mr. Morse is responsible for one of the most controversial of gun bills in recent weeks — the one that would hold owners, sellers and manufacturers of assault-type weapons at fault for any violence that stemmed from those guns. Mr. Morse is the president of the state’s senate. Mr. Giron and Ms. Hudak are being targeted for recall because of support for gun control bills that the governor signed into law, The Daily Caller reported.
The recall effort is being driven by the Pueblo Freedom and Rights Group. Members say they’re busy collecting the necessary signatures to go forward with a vote. Law requires they receive an amount that’s equal to 25 percent of the total vote in each member’s district. The hardest to obtain are signers for Mr. McLachlan’s petition, The Daily Caller reported.
So far, recall petitioners have only collected about half of the necessary 10,587 signatures needed to put the wheels in motion for a special election for Mr. McLachlan’s seat, The Daily Caller said.
May 21 is the deadline to file the signatures.
