DETROIT (AP) - Jordan Taylor earned his first career pole in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series’ Daytona Prototype class Friday, turning a lap at 96.903 mph at Belle Isle.
Driving the No. 10 Corvette DP for father Wayne Taylor’s team, Taylor will start at the front of the field Saturday in the two-hour race. Taylor also has five Grand-Am poles in the slower GT class.
“We weren’t too confident going into qualifying,” Taylor said. “We weren’t in the top five in either (practice) session. We got together and made some big changes and something worked.”
Max Papis drove a Ferrari to the GT class pole position, and Tom Long took the GX class pole in a Mazda
