Joran Van der Sloot, the convicted killer and Dutch citizen who lived in Aruba at the time vacationing American Natalee Holloway went missing, is getting married.
“He wants to marry, change his life, start a new life,” said his attorney, Maximo Altez, in a Fox News Latino report. Mr. Altez will serve as Van der Sloot’s best man and sole guest, Newser reported.
The bride’s identity is not known, but unnamed sources say she could be Leydi Figueroa Uceda, 22, from Peru. The Daily Beast reported that she’s registered as Van der Sloot’s common law partner. The Daily Beast also reports she’s had conjugal visits with Van der Sloot, and that the couple may have a son.
Van der Sloot was a key suspect in the disappearance of Ms. Holloway in May of 2005. He was indicted on federal charges of wire fraud and extortion tied to her disappearance. And five years later, he pleaded guilty in a Peru court to the murder of another woman, Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez.
The date of Van der Sloot’s wedding is not yet known.
