The Naval Academy has launched an investigation into three football players over accusations that they sexually assaulted a female student, a school spokesman said Friday.
The players have not yet been named, and Naval Academy officials declined to say when the investigation began. The nature of the sexual assault allegations aren’t known, either.
“Naval Academy leadership is monitoring the progress of this investigation and evaluating the appropriate options for adjudication,” said Naval Academy spokesman Cmdr. John Schofield, as reported by CBS. “It is completely inappropriate to make any other public comment on this investigation or any ongoing investigation as we risk compromising the military justice process.”
Academy officials didn’t say when they expected the investigation to wrap, either.
Superintendent Vice Admiral Michael Miller and football coach Ken Niumatalolo didn’t issue comments, CBS reported.
