President Obama is planning to nominate James Comey to replace Robert Mueller as FBI director, officials familiar with the nomination process said, according to CNN.

Mr. Comey, a Republican, served as a deputy attorney general under President George W. Bush.

The White House would not comment on the president’s decision, Reuters reports.
