Tens of thousands have rallied in protest in Paris against a newly approved gay marriage law, and roughly 100 were arrested in clashes with police.
The actual number of protesters who converged on the city was estimated between 150,000 and 1 million, BBC reported.
France President Francois Hollande signed the gay marriage bill into law a week ago, despite rising opposition. The law also allows for gay couples to adopt.
Some protesting in the weekend-long rally had actually voted for Mr. Hollande, but turned against him over the gay marriage measure.
The BBC reported that some at the rally drove donkeys with signs that read: “I am an [expletive]. I voted Hollande.”
