“Donald Trump for President” campaign signs may make an appearance once again.
The billionaire real estate mogul and “Celebrity Apprentice” television host is mulling a run for the White House in 2016, and he’s spent more than $1 million on election-related research, The New York Post reported.
He’s also making the circuit as the featured speaker at several Republican events in the past few weeks — the latest, last week in Michigan, at the Oakland County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner, The Post said.
“Everybody tells me, ’Please run for president. Please run for president. I would be much happier if a great and competent person came along,’ ” Mr. Trump said, to the crowd of 2,300 at the event, The Post reported. At the same time, Mr. Trump’s special counsel, Michael Cohen, said the billionaire has spent $1 million to gauge his chances in 2016.
“The electoral research was commissioned,” Mr. Cohen said, in The Post report. “We did not spend $1 million on this research for it just to sit on my bookshelf. At this point, Mr. Trump has not made any decision on a political run … [but] the turnout at these political speeches indicates his following remains very strong and is growing.”
