Torrential rains deluged numerous roads in San Antonio over the weekend, killing two women and resulting in more than 235 rescues by emergency workers.
At least one teenage boy also was reported missing after he was carried away while trying to cross the Cibolo Creek in the suburb of Schertz, authorities said.
More than 200 residents were stranded in cars and homes when water rose unexpectedly up to 4 feet in some areas, Fox News reports.
“It was pretty crazy,” said Gera Hinojosa, a valet parking cars downtown after the storm, told Fox News. “It was pretty unexpected. We hardly got any warning about it.”
One woman climbed to the roof of her car before being swept away in floodwaters, San Antonio Fire Department spokesman Christian Bove said. Her body later was found against a fence, Fox News reports.
Officials also recovered the body of a woman in her 60s who was swept away in her car while firefighters were trying to rescue her, Fox News says.
