Egyptian ‘honor killings’ leave mother, 2 daughters dead

A spokesman for Egypt’s security force said 10 men killed a mother and her two daughters for suspected lapses in morality.

The “honor killings” were conducted by the victims’ relatives, The Associated Press reported. The three were suspected of having affairs, AP reported.

Their bodies were wrapped in blankets, weighted with stones and dumped in the Nile River near the city of Luxor, AP reported.

Honor killings are prohibited by Egyptian law, but they’re common, nonetheless, AP reported.
