An FBI agent shot and killed an Orlando, Fla., man with possible ties to the April 15 Boston bombing.
The FBI said that one of its agents was serving on “official duties” when he fatally shot the man, CBS affiliate WKMG reported. The shooting occurred just after midnight in the very early Wednesday morning hours near Universal Orlando, CBS said. The Associated Press reported that the man became violent during questioning about the Boston bombing case.
Khusn Taramiv identified the victim as his friend, 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev, and said he was being questioned because he knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, WESH-TV in Orlando reported. Both Todashev and Tsarnaev were MMA fighters, Mr. Taramiv said.
Mr. Taramiv also said he and his friend were interviewed by the FBI for three hours on Tuesday.
“[The FBI] took me and my friend, the suspect that got killed,” Mr. Taramiv told WESH-TV. “They were talking to us, both us, right? And they said they need him for a little more, for a couple more hours, and I left, and they told me they’re going to bring him back. They never brought him back.”
Mr. Taramiv told WESH-TV that Todashev said he “felt inside he was going to get shot. I told him, ’Everything is going to be fine, don’t worry about it.’ He said, ’I have a really bad feeling.’”
Mr. Taramvi said he returned to his apartment, Windhover Condominiums, to find that there had been a shooting, WESH-TV reported.
“I was completely shocked,” he said, in the report. “I still can’t believe it, you know what I mean?”
WESH-TV reported that Todashev had been arrested earlier this May for aggravated battery.
