Los Angeles Dodgers star and Oklahoma native Matt Kemp pledged to give $1,000 for every home run he hits to victims of the deadly tornadoes that swept through his home state.

Kemp, who starred in baseball and basketball at Midwest City High School, posted Monday night on Twitter after homering against the Milwaukee Brewers: “I’m giving $1000 for tonight’s HR and every HR until the All-Star break for the victims of my hometown in OKC. #PrayforOklahoma”

Kemp, who has been involved in many children’s charities throughout his career, recently met with a Dodgers fan with a terminal illness after a game against the San Francisco Giants, presenting the fan with a signed baseball, hat, jersey and cleats — unaware that the exchange was being recorded. The video has since gone viral.
