Almost as quickly as she tweeted, she was forced to apologize. But not before thousands saw the message: The creator of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” said on Twitter that the tornadoes must have been sent as a direct message to conservatives.

“This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives,” Lizz Winstead tweeted.

Breitbart reported she was forced to quickly issue an apology. Social media exploded with commentators who condemned her statement.

“Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry,” she tweeted.

Ms. Winstead created “The Daily Show” and frequently has used the platform to push her personal liberal views, Breitbart reported.
