Chelsea Clinton quietly has taken on the co-chairmanship of New York University’s new multifaith organization, the Of Many Institute.
One NYU spokesperson said in the New York Post that Ms. Clinton has been working with the group “for some time,” but the school has worked hard to keep her involvement a secret. The school didn’t issue an announcement, didn’t send out a press release — and even Ms. Clinton’s Facebook page has neglected to headline her role, opting instead to slide in a line on her bio page mentioning the update.
And yet, the new job is significant in terms of influence.
The Of Many Program is under the Center for Spiritual Life at the university, and participants can earn a “minor degree in multifaith and spiritual leadership” in coordination with the Silver School of Social Work and the Wagner School, the Post reported.
Ms. Clinton has served as assistant vice provost at the university for more than two years. Her new position isn’t academic, but it is in line with her previous expressed desire to head up a program that touches on faith, the Post said.
“With all candor, because my husband is Jewish and I’m Christian, and we’re both practicing, it’s something that’s quite close to home,” she said in remarks last September, the Post reported.
