The U.S. Capitol Black Police Association is staging a protest on Tuesday against what members decry as a hostile and discriminatory work environment.
The protest comes on the heels of a class-action suit just filed by 51 CBPA officers, civilians and employees against the Capitol Police Board. The suit contends that upper-ranked officers harassed and intimidated black police.
The discrimination charges have dragged on for years and led to a handful of separate suits, Roll Call reported. This latest suit brings up new allegations, pointing to the continued trend of discrimination on the part of the Capitol Police brass, Roll Call said.
Association members are hoping to draw attention to their most recent court filing with their Tuesday rally at the Capitol.
