Two hot-air balloons soaring the skies above the Cappadocia region of Turkey collided on Monday, killing two and injuring 23.
Two Brazilian tourists died, The Associated Press reported. No other information about the tourists was known. Information about the extent of the injuries to two dozen other riders wasn’t immediately clear, either.
The two balloons struck, sending one to the ground in a central province, Nevsehir, a local newspaper reported.
The mayor of Nevsehir, Hasan Unver, said balloon rides would resume on Tuesday.
“More people die while doing parachuting or rafting,” he said in the United Press International report. “The risks are lower in the balloon sector.”
