Paula Broadwell, the woman at the heart of the sex scandal involving now-retired Gen. David Petraeus, is finally speaking in public, and her message is simple: Faith and family are what matter.
“The mission today, the prayer breakfast today, was to speak about redemption and slowing down in life and finding purpose,” Ms. Broadwell said at a YMCA prayer breakfast, as reported by Politico. “It really touched my heart. I’ve made some mistakes in the past, but I’m trying to look forward with my family.”
Ms. Broadwell also said she’s relying on her religious upbringing to smooth her path.
“I grew up in a strong faith-based family,” she said, Politico reported. “I think I have selected to return to those roots for strength, for my family, for myself and to protect our children and to forgive others and move on and face forward.” She also said she wasn’t “seeking publicity,” but rather “meaningful work,” Politico reported.
Gen. Petraeus, meanwhile, has found work — as a visiting professor at the City University of New York.
