A suburban community college near Boston has set up a scholarship program in memory of a victim of the April 15 marathon bombings.
MassBay Community College announced the scholarship in honor of Krystle Campbell who died in attack. The scholarship will be awarded for business majors, The Associated Press reported.
Ms. Campbell, 29, had earned a business administration degree from the school, located in Wellesley, in 2005, AP said. And the college president, John O’Doonnell, said in the AP report that MassBay “lost one of our own on that horrific day.”
She hailed from Medford and Arlington, and was one of three killed in the terror attacks in Boston. She wasn’t running the marathon, but was at the finish line to watch a friend.
The core requirements for scholarship applicants, AP reported: They must take a full course load. And they must write and submit an essay about one of these topics — resiliency, making a difference, generosity of spirit, or overcoming challenges and obstacle to realize a goal.
