The U.S. military has a new set of orders in its pursuit of the terrorists who are guilty of killing four Americans in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in Benghazi: Capture or kill.
The plan includes a scenario that places U.S. troops on ground in Libya, CNN reported. The White House would have to first order the ground troops, however.
The upgraded mission comes as the White House is facing growing pressure to show that action really is being taken to root out the guilty parties — although several officials say the planning for the “capture or kill” mission has been in the works for months, CNN reported.
CNN said a similar “capture or kill” plan had been considered right after the Sept. 11 attack at the U.S. compound, but was not approved by the White House.
CNN reported that the White House has yet to order the plan to go forth, but talks are going forth among high-ranking military officials to launch an attack. The big concern, CNN reported: The White House doesn’t want a U.S. military mission to further weaken the Libyan government and bring it to collapse.
