Joyce Brothers, the mother of television psychology, died at the age of 85, her daughter said on Monday.

“She passed away peacefully and in her home with her family all around her,” said Lisa Brothers Arbisser, CNN reported.

Ms. Brothers was a television star. She started as a game-show contestant — winning the top prize on “The $64,000 Question” in 1955 — and grew in popularity as a sports interviewer. She finally found her niche as a televised psychologist fielding relationship questions from the audience.

She was also an advice columnist for “Good Housekeeping” magazine and for various newspapers for roughly 40 years.
