It’s official. Longtime news woman Barbara Walters, 83, is retiring from her public faces on television in 2014. Specifically, she’s quitting her host role at “The View” and her on-air journalism duties at ABC.
She will stay on as executive producer of the daytime talk show, “The View,” CNN reported.
“I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on ’The View’ and with ABC News,” she said, of her last planned months with the shows, CNN said.
Rumors began surfacing of Ms. Walters’ retirement in March. She created the show, “The View,” in 1997.
She’s expected to make her formal announcement of retirement on the show on Monday.
