New Orleans police on Monday vowed a quick capture of the gunmen who injured 19 during a Mother’s Day parade shooting.

The shooting was horrific. Cell phone video showed victims on the ground, among bloody spots on the pavement, The Associated Press reported. At least three were seriously injured. And detectives have since been collecting surveillance video and conducting interviews, promising a speedy resolution to their investigation.

Among the victims: Ten men, seven women and two 10-year-old children, AP reported.

“The specialness of the day doesn’t appear to interrupt the relentless drumbeat of violence,” Mayor Mitch Landrieu said at a news conference outside a hospital on Sunday evening, the AP reported.

In January, there was a similar style shooting at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade, when five were wounded. And around Mardi Gras time, there was a shooting in the French Quarter that left four injured, AP said.
