A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said President Obama is to blame for all the rising tensions in the peninsula.
Mr. Obama lied about labeling North Korea’s messages to South Korea “provocations” and “threats,” the spokesman said in a United Press International report. The reference was to the West’s denouncement of North Korea’s December long-range rocket tests, promise to conduct more, and threat to attack Japan, South Korea and America with nuclear weapons.
The North said it was only reacting to Western aggression, and Mr. Obama ramped the tensions with false statements, UPI said.
“The recent escalation in confrontation between the DPRK and the U.S. was sparked by the high-handed hostile act [by the U.S.] against the satellite launch for peaceful purposes,” North Korea’s official news agency said.
